KRU Charitable Services Trust

What is KRU Charitable Services Trust

The trust was set up in May 2012 by the Treasurer & Trustee Trevor Dennis, and his colleagues, James Martin and Ann Hazelden who are also trustees. The trust is the fund raising arm of Kent Re-Users and provides the facility of a Work Club at our premises in Sittingbourne, for unemployed young people aged 16-24 who we feel have the most difficulty in finding work mainly due to lack of experience and knowledge of a work place.

What is a Work Club?

Work Clubs can come in all shapes and sizes, but they essentially provide unemployed people with a place to meet, exchange skills, share experiences, find opportunities, make contacts, and get support to help them find work.

What does KRU Charitable Services Trust provide?

The trust has access to a three work station area, with fax and printing facilities, photocopier, tea/coffee making facilities and broadband to assist clients in searching for work. In addition, the trustee’s can provide guidance and support from their knowledge of the working environment gained over many years, and where required one to one coaching and support.

When is the Work Club open?

We are currently in discussions with Job Centre Plus, Sittingbourne to confirm the most suitable times/days and will update this section shortly.

Why should I attend?

The Work Club is entirely voluntary, and is only for your own benefit. You can search for work within an office environment with the support of experienced colleagues who can give guidance and advice on how to write a CV, what employers look for, interview techniques, how to complete an application, and what employers are looking for from the wording of adverts etc.

How can I contact the Work Club?

You can contact us via your Jobcentre Plus advisor, or direct on 01795 424008.

Can I support KRU Charitable Trust?

The trust is happy to receive support from experienced individuals  who wish to provide support to our Work Club clients, or if you wish to donate to the Trust, please contact Trevor Dennis, Trustee/Treasurer on 01795 424008, or click the donate button below.

Why should I donate?

The Work Club has been set up using donations of furniture and equipment from Kent Re-Users, and is working with Job Centre Plus to provide computers, but needs stationery and day to day running costs to support the club and it’s expansion to support the over 25’s which we hope to do during 2013. The advisors are all volunteers and trustees of the Trust, and it is a not for profit organisation.
